Analysis shows the Coalition’s nuclear plan will unleash a two-billion-tonne carbon bomb and halt billions in renewable energy investment. Liberal candidate Andrew Constance declared Australia’s Paris climate targets would be “off the table under the Liberal Party”. And shadow energy minister Ted O’Brien has deflected questions on whether a Dutton government would remain a signatory to the Paris Agreement.
Independents could be the difference between a climate wrecking Dutton majority and a strong climate crossbench. And our polling shows many of the seats where independents are going head-to-head with the Coalition could come down to just a handful of votes.
But winning these seats won’t be easy. Peter Dutton’s campaign has the backing of Gina Rinehart and the fossil fuel lobby. Independents have us.
