As the Liberal Party tears itself apart over net zero, community groups are fighting back and finding the political leaders they deserve.
Canberra insiders are reporting that at an emergency meeting on Wednesday afternoon the Liberal Party will abandon net zero.
It’s a move to appease Advance, One Nation voters and fossil fuel interests, but when the Coalition puts the interests of climate deniers over the interests of their communities, their communities will fight back.
From rural towns to inner-city suburbs, communities are telling us the same thing. They feel betrayed but fired up. They know the kind of leaders they want, but need help to find and support them. And they can't afford to wait until the next election to start building momentum.
The Community Accelerator Fund will provide vital early funding so independent campaigns can launch quickly, scale effectively and seriously compete with major party candidates at the next election.
To supercharge the launch of the Community Accelerator Fund, a generous donor has agreed to match the next 300 regular contributions. If you make a monthly donation to the CAF today your support for the independents movement will be DOUBLED every month until the next election.*

- a full-page ad in the local newspaper announcing the candidate search, plus
- venue hire for a campaign launch event with 250 volunteers, plus
- 500 flyers in the hands of voters on pre-poll.
The Liberal Party has capitulated to the growing, climate-denying far right. It’s clear that Pauline Hanson, Barnaby Joyce and Advance aren’t waiting to 2028 to get started. If community independents are going to win at the next election, we can’t either.
