Canberra insiders are reporting that at an emergency meeting on Wednesday afternoon the Liberal Party will abandon net zero.
It’s a move to appease Advance, One Nation voters and fossil fuel interests, but when the Coalition puts the interests of climate deniers over the interests of their communities, their communities will fight back.
From rural towns to inner-city suburbs, communities are telling us the same thing. They feel betrayed but fired up. They know the kind of leaders they want, but need help to find and support them. And they can't afford to wait until the next election to start building momentum.
The Community Accelerator Fund will provide vital early funding so independent campaigns can launch quickly, scale effectively and seriously compete with major party candidates at the next election.
To supercharge the launch of the Community Accelerator Fund, a generous donor has agreed to match the next 300 regular contributions. If you make a monthly donation to the CAF today your support for the independents movement will be DOUBLED every month until the next election.*
The Liberal Party has capitulated to the growing, climate-denying far right. It’s clear that Pauline Hanson, Barnaby Joyce and Advance aren’t waiting to 2028 to get started. If community independents are going to win at the next election, we can’t either.
Independent community groups can express their interest in CAF support here.
*This supporter's donations will support the backbone functions Climate 200 provides to the independents movement, including research, polling and technology, so that every dollar you donate goes straight to communities and campaigns.
Their victories are won through sustained, grassroots-powered campaigns.
But they need ongoing resources to compete with established parties.
In 2024, our Community Accelerator Fund raised over $1.2 million for grassroots community groups.
Those who received funding told us the grants were critical to getting off the ground but they “wished we’d had this support earlier.”
That’s where you come in.
Your support now means they can win come election time.

The vast bulk of our donors are everyday citizens — nurses, retirees, teachers, farmers — donating small sums and regularly. All are united by a shared commitment to stronger climate action, better community representation, and cleaning up politics.

Community Accelerator Fund
We’re raising $1 million to supercharge community campaigns
Climate 200 is reaching out to our 11,000-strong donor community to raise $1 million to help community campaigns across the country.
Eligible community groups will receive up to $50,000 to help them scale and reach a level of sophistication that gives them a genuine chance at the next federal election.
To be eligible, you do not need to have a candidate, but you do need to demonstrate you have what it takes to win.
