New AEC disclosures released this week have laid bare the scale of fossil fuel influence in Australian elections. Over $14 million was channelled through third-party groups like Advance, Australians for Prosperity, and Better Australia, who ran relentless attack ads and disinformation campaigns targeting independent MPs.
These attacks will only accelerate in 2028. The hard work to defend Independent MPs can’t wait until the next election, it has to start today.
Hiring dedicated community organisers will allow independent MPs to keep building their volunteer bases, clearly communicate their impact, and respond quickly when disinformation starts to spread.
